Physical properties of Trihydric alcohols
(a) Trihydric alcohol is an odourless, viscous, colourless and hygroscopic liquid.
(b) Trihydric alcohol has high boiling point that is 290°C. The high viscosity and high boiling point of glycerol are because of association through hydrogen bonding.
(c) Trihydric alcohol is soluble in ethyl and water alcohol but insoluble in ether.
(d) Trihydric alcohol is non toxic in nature and sweet in taste.
