Problem: Respond to the following by giving your opinion in 120 words: There is a large spectrum pertaining to the identity of a deaf person according to the YouTube video "What Does Deaf Mean". Many deaf people have been identified as deaf, hard of hearing or hearing impaired. One's deafness or amount of deafness does not define that person or identify them as a whole. Some people may be partially deaf or have been born deaf due to it being hereditary. All individuals may identify as something other than deaf rather it be their culture or their disability. Some people who are deaf may have more than one disability such as being vision impaired. I do believe people can being in more than one culture. The question would be would they be comfortable identifying in more than one culture. I think deaf people shy away from the hearing world to avoid the awkwardness of the language and communication barriers that exist. I absolutely believe hearing people can belong to a deaf world, especially if they put effort into understanding the culture and language of American Sign Language. Need Assignment Help?
