Present your answers to these issues in the form of a memorandum to the Sheldahl's corporate managers from you, as the manufacturing manager of the ADP.

1. Perform a SWOT analysis of Estern Gear. In doing so identify what you believe their distinctive competence is or should be?
2. Develop a cause and effect diagram for the as a way to identify their current problems use increased lead time as the effect in your diagram. Based on your diagram, what do you view as the most critical problem or problems to address?
3. It has been argued the Estern Gear by taking on larger orders, is shifting its focus away from "low volume customized gears" and moving toward "higher volume, standardized gears."
What are the strategic, operational and tactical implications of making this shift in focus?
