Pentane c5h12 burns with air so that a fractionnbspxnbspof

1. Pentane (C5H12) burns with air so that a fraction of the carbon is converted to CO2. The remaining carbon appears as CO. There is no free O2 in the products. Develop plots of the air-fuel ratio and the percent of theoretical air versus x, for ranging from zero to  unity.

2. For each of the following mixtures, determine the equivalence ratio and indicate if the mixture is lean or rich:

(a) 1 kmol of butane (C4H10) and 32 kmol of air.

(b) 1 lb of propane (C3H8) and 14.5 lb of air.
