Question 1: Explain in brief Pay Roll Accounting function in a Manufacturing enterprise.

Question 3: A worker under the Halsey process of remuneration has a day rate of Rs. 12 per week of 48 hrs, plus a cost of living bonus of 10 paisa per hour worked. He is given an 8 hour task to perform, which he accomplishes in 6 hrs. He allowed 30% of the time saved as premium bonus. Determine his total hourly rate of earnings, and what difference would it make if he was paid under the Rowan technique?

Question 4: In an assembly shop of a motor cycle factory, women A, B, C and D work altogether as a team and are paid on group piece rate. They as well work individually on day rate jobs. In a 44 hour week, the-following hours have been spent by A, B, C and D on group piece work: A-40 hrs; B-40 hrs; C-30 hrs; and D-20 hrs. The balance of time has been booked by each worker on day work jobs. Their hourly rates are: A-50 paisa; B-75 paisa; C Re 1 and D-Re 1. The group piece-rate is Re 1 per unit and the team has produced 150 units. Compute the gross weekly earnings of each worker, taking into consideration which each individual is entitled to dearness allowance of Rs. 20 per week.

Question 5: In a unit, 10 men work as a group. When the production of group surpasses the standards output of 200 pieces per hour each man is paid an incentive for the surplus production in addition to his wages at hourly rates. The incentive is at half the percentage, the surplus production over standards bears to the standards production. Each man is paid an incentive, at the rate of this percentage of wage rate of Rs. 2 per hour. There is no relation between the individual workman’s hourly-rate and the bonus rate. In a week, the hours worked are 500 and total production is 1,20,000 pieces.

a) Calculate the total amount of bonus for the week.

b) Compute the total earnings of the two workers A and B of the group:

A worked 44 hrs and his basic rate per hours was Rs. 2.20
B worked 48 hrs and his basic rate per hours was Rs. 1.90.
