Patient fell off her bed and fell backwards on left shoulder


Problem: Patient presents to the Emergency room after she fell off her bed and fell backwards on her left shoulder. Took Motrin, however, did not resolve patient. She was brought to the ER. No head trauma, no LOC, denies chest pain or shortness of breath. No neck pain, no significant medical history. Awake, alert and in moderate distress from pain. HEENT: Head Normocephalic. Pupils equal and reactive. Neck supply with good range of motion. Deformity of her left clavicle which is tender to touch. She had decreased range of motion. Good radial pulses. Chest clear, heart normal rate and rhythm. Abdomen positive bowel sounds. Lower extremities good motor power. X-Ray taken in ER showed compound displaced fracture of the shaft of clavicle. Orthopedics was consulted, and, surgical reduction was recommended. She will be admitted with surgical intervention to be performed in the morning. She will be sedated with Morphine as needed for pain, remain NPO. Need Assignment Help?
