Patient experience-age middle-old male and female patience

Assignment Task: Patient Experience - Age 'Middle-old' Male and Female Patient Experience

Activity I: Choose a reading.

Aim to write one paragraph (aim for 6 sentences). The topic from this reading is your choice. Choose a topic by selecting some information that you found relevant. Say why the information you chose is relevant to this week's patient experience (the person you chose from the film House Calls) and how this information will help you improve the patient experience and or partnering in care with patients and their families. Your statements need to be supported by referring back to the reading you chose, as well as link back to at least one other reading from weeks 1 - 8. Aim to use in-text referencing. Include a reference list.

Remember, the first sentence of your paragraph is a main point sentence and therefore does not contain an in-text reference.

Activity 2: Gibbs Reflective Cycle

1. Create six columns in your note pad (landscape orientation needed) or use the templates below (pp. 8-9).

2. Spend a minute or so thinking about the week 9 older patient experiences from the 'House Calls' film.

3. Stage 1 - Description. From the patient you chose for Activity 1, question1: focus on two parts of their experience (positive and negative) you find particularly relevant. Write one paragraph of at least six to eight sentences to 'Describe' these two aspects of their experience. Identify two themes from your description and include these within your paragraph. Link your themes to relevant literature. Aim to use in-text referencing.

4. Stage 2 - 'Feelings' and 'Thoughts'. Spend a minute thinking about your 'feelings' and 'thoughts' in response to your description about these two aspects of this person's patient experience. Link your 'feelings' and 'thoughts' to relevant literature. Aim to use in-text referencing.

Write your feelings and thoughts down in the second column.

5. Stage 3 - Values and Beliefs'. Think about the 'Values and Beliefs' that connect to your feelings and thoughts? Where do these values and beliefs originate from? Why are these values important? (Link your values to the nursing governances readings - for example: week one 'ICN Code of Ethics for Nurses', week two 'Code of Conduct for Nurses' and week three Registered Nurse Standards for Practice. Is there a particularly relevant value statement/principle you could apply to this situation/patient experience?). Link your beliefs to relevant literature. Include in-text referencing.

Write the answers to these questions in the third column.

Link these strategies to relevant literature. Include in-text referencing.
