Your report should examine the following issues that influence the creation of customer value by aligning and coordinating the goals of the partners of the supply chain partners:

• Strategic issues, e.g. the adoption of a JIT or TQM strategy may foster collaboration amongst all supply chain partners towards the satisfaction of the final customer; on the contrary, strategies that emphasise the optimization of performance of specific supply chain partners (e.g. low inventory strategy) may inhibit the satisfaction of final customers (e.g. frequent cases of out of stock)

• the structural; for example, is the firm structured based on functions or processes? Does the firm have any cross-functional team or leader to promote collaboration internally and externally with other firms of the supply chain?

• the performance issues; for example, how firm performance is evaluated, based on departmental performance metrics or metrics reflecting process performance? E.g. is the restaurant department of a hotel evaluated on sales per table or based on sales per loyal / satisfied hotel customer? The former performance metric reflect a silo – departmental approach whereby each hotel department aims to optimize each individual performance, whereas the latter performance metric reflects a process , customer centric strategy whereby the aim of all departments is to optimize revenues from hotel guests (i.e. the restaurant may have to provide a free or discounted meal to a loyal hotel guest if this guest is paying a lot of money to stay in the hotel’s suite)

Your report should also comment on how the company can further improve its supply chain accordingly.

– Suggest ways and strategies for future improvements: examples of such strategies may be: collaborative forecasting and replenishment, technology applications that enable communication and information visibility amongst supply chain partners etc

Structure of the project:

– Please follow a format of a business proposal – project: i.e. start by analyzing the current situation and any potential problems that may exist in the supply chain in terms of the latter’s ability to have a process and customer centric approach

– Discuss the strategic, structural and performance issues that inhibit customer value and / or the issues that need to be changed in these 3 aspects in order to create customer value. It will be good if you have 3 sections, each one discussing one of the 3 dimensions (strategy, structure, performance)

– End the project by identifying suggestions for future improvement

–  Include a section with your bibliography providing a list of your references; it is also very good to also cite these references within the text in order to show where and how you have used the references
