This paper will consist of an ethical analysis of the BP oil spill. There is one source provided to start this research, cite at least four other sources.

This source has a particular case because it has an interesting array of stakeholders, and because corporate culture was such a fundamental part of the problem.

Format

1. Introduction: Describe the ethical issue, giving appropriate background information. Be sure to clearly explain what caused the unethical behavior. How well did the companies handle the aftermath?

2. Stakeholder analysis. See instructions on how to do a stakeholder analysis from Week 2. Briefly describe how each stakeholder group was impacted by the issue.

3. Ethical analyses: This is where you analyze the situation from each perspective, labeling each section. Do NOT bring up NEW background information here. Any case information analyzed should have already been presented in the introduction. You should have four labeled subsections in the ethical analyses:

- Egoism: Were the actions beneficial to the companies and personnel involved? Hint - this section should be no more than one paragraph.

- Cultural relativism: How did organizational culture contribute to the issue? Were laws or regulations broken? How would society view the actions that led up to the disaster and the response afterward?

- Utilitarianism: Are the actions unethical when looking at the balance of harm versus good?

- Deontology: Which ethical principles were violated? Were duties not performed? Were any rights violated?

4. Conclusion and recommendations.

5. References.

Format: Double-space and use headings to separate subsections. Include a cover page. References should be in either APA or MLA format. Body of paper should be at least 5 pages, double-spaced, 11 point font.
