Current leadership definitions are transformational leadership and leader member exchange theory. The transformational leader is one where leaders and their followers. raise each other to higher levels of morality and motivation.

The consequences for this change in leadership context are as follows:

Influence Process: The influence process is through The quality of relationship influences the follower's responsibility, decisions, and performance. The influence in the transformational leadership is through connecting with the follower's sense of identity, collective identity of the organization,being a role model.

Factors: the key factors are the trust, respect, and emotional relationships that the leader is able to develop. In case of transformational leadership the key factors are that the leader with his followers identifies the change required.

Limitations:The limitations of transformational leader arise because it depends too much on the individual personality. The leader must have the components of openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion/introversion,and neuroticism/emotional stability. Further, transformational leader is not appropriate across other cultures.

Analysis: The consequences for these changes in the leadership context are that there is that leaders of today must place high emphasis on trust, emotion, and respect based relationships. In addition, the leaders must be able to raise moral standards, prioritize objectives, and motivate followers.
