ARTIST PROFILE

Part of our charge in this course is to be aware of the existing landscape of contemporary artist. Whether that be in the form of the history of the movement, modalities and traditions or to understand with greater detail and specificity the works of artists and their historical context and contemporary positioning.

For this project you will be engaging with researching a single artist. You will be asked to research, learn and present your findings about the artist's life and work. Here are some bullet points that will be essential for a successful artist profile.

• Biographic information. Where are they from, what is their story and did that impact their artistic efforts. This is a great way to give context for their life as an artist, make thoughtful connections

• What did they make? How's and Why's are key to this section of the profile. Dig deep and ask yourself about the materials, processes and methods the artist used.

• In depth visual analysis of one specific work by the artist. This should be you looking at the work and describing it in amazing detail (think about materials, scale, formal aspects as well as your personal interpretation of the work itself)

• Ten (10) quality printed images of the artist's work.

• A works cited page including three (3) sources. One (1) of which must be from the UT campus library and two (2) can be sourced from the internet. NO WIKIPEDIA!!! These must be presented in MLA format!

The artist profile should be presented in the form of a Power Point and will be presented as our final for this term.
