Question 01: BI Magic Quadrants
Part A requires you to perform some research into the BI "industry" using one of the following Gartner Magic Quadrants relevant to BI:
Parenteau, J., Sallam, R.L., Howson, C., Tapadinhas, J., Schlegal, K., and Oestreich, T.W.,, 2016, Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms, Gartner ID: G00275847, published 4th February 2016
1. Select ONE of the Magic Quadrants above, read it, and answer the following questions:
i. There are a number of vendors listed in each of the MQs. From the MQ,SAP has been selected, write two paragraphs about their products. Thisshould be based on research other than that in the Gartner MQ and appropriatelycited/referenced.
ii. List and explain the Inclusion Criteria that a vendor must meet in order to be listed in the Magic Quadrant you have selected? Do not copy and paste the explanation given in the MQ document;that would be plagiarism.
iii. Each Magic Quadrant includes a Market Overview (Challenges). Summarise the market overview of the MQ you have selected.
Question 02: BI Looking Forward (25 marks)
Part B requires you to access and read the following document:

2. Read Buytendijk (2014) and answer the following questions:
a. Select ONE of the technologies listed in the "At the Peak" category (e.g., Big Data Analytics,
DataScience, High-Performance Message Infrastructure etc), and write a 1-page summary of it. You
should attempt to use sources other than the hype cycle.
b. Select a Vendor present in the technology you wrote about in 2a (above) and write a short (1 page) review of their product.
Question 03: Data mining for BI
Write a 1000-word(not counting references) +/- 10%) research report on the following topics (I have provided relevant ebooks as attached or you may use your own source of information):
- An Introduction to Data mining for Business Intelligence
- How Data Mining Works
- Data Mining Processes
For references, please take note on the following:
- Research Findings can be further improved by summarising various relevant references (material need to be well synthesised) for each point, instead of explain one particular point from one reference.
- For in-text citation, usually should indicate only the last name of the authors.
- All sources that are used in the assignment must be referenced. Mypreference is for APA or Chicago.
- It is very important to research more on various academic sources, such as journal articles, white paper and conference papers.
