Parallel pipes, fixed overall H, ?EGL or hl = 75'. Elevated Tank A water surface is at El 625, 3000' away is Tank B with free surface El 550 They are connected by a 12" dia cast iron pipe. At Point "C", 1000' upgradient from B, the pipe goes over a hill at El 550, the local high point. Neglect local losses.
a. Find the Q, and the pressure head hp at point C

b. 1000' of 12" pipe is placed parallel to the existing, from A to C. Find the new Q through the system, and the new static hp value at C. Is this a substantial improvement?

c. Now, knowing ?hp or hl in the 1000' parallel section, find the single-pipe diameter equivalent to two 12" dia ones.
