China has 13.2% of all the manufacturing in the world. Manufacturing in China has always given many benefits to US companies(Jayarman, 2009, p. 55).
Some of the benefits are a lower cost of goods and inexpensive labor. Western companies can outsource manufacturing using contracts or they own the manufacturing and the parent organization is in the US.
Microsoft manufactures products and are able to receive the benefits of manufacturing in China. They also create innovative and new products that are trademarked with strict licensing agreements. In this paper, I will do a country risk assessment on China. Microsoft has made a strategic decision to start business in China.
This risk assessment will enable the organization to see the pros and cons of decision for the organization.
