Overview of the current state of health, safety and security. Germane legal considerations are presented next with emphasis on various aspects of OSHA. This is followed by discussions on promoting safe and healthy work environments (enforcing safety rules, investigating and reporting accidents, and building better wellness programs). Next we look at Employee Rights and Responsibilities and the challenges associated with policies, procedures and rules. Lastly, we review a thorough overview of labor relations by focusing on: current state of unions in the US and around the world; the history of unions and the major labor relations laws; why and how unions are organized; the AFL-CIO, national and local unions, and union leaders; how public sector union differ from private sector unions; how the bargaining process works; what a labor agreement is and how it is administered; and modern day challenges that unions face.
