Overly-masculine stereotypes about the role of fathers

This research memorandum will quote lightly from and correctly use MLA-style citations in the text of your paper and also on your works cited page from a minimum of one primary source, and a minimum of two secondary sources accessed through the SFSU Library database. You will also use information from at least two other sources of unbiased, trustworthy information. (Use of untrustworthy websites or biased websites will knock points off the paper. See “What Is a Scholarly Article” posted above this assignment.)

Here is the assignment prompt:

Take a position in the first paragraph of your research memorandum as to one way you think your chosen artist or artwork made the artist something larger than himself or herself because she or he changed society in a specific way. Identify as a part of your main idea how the art or artist accomplished this change. (For example: Because John Lennon relishes the sweetness of being a stay-at-home dad in his “Double Fantasy” album so appealingly, he helped the entire Western culture to move beyond our past overly-masculine stereotypes about the role of fathers.)

A quick, hopefully helpful tip: Notice how the John Lennon example above makes a claim about an album changing an entire culture but doesn’t even attempt to back up that claim? That’s because there is no expectation amongst learned readers of the claim being backed up by statistics, observations by scholars, or trends tracked by sociologists until the discussion of the main idea in subsequent body paragraphs of the paper.
