Unlike a terminal output the OLED is a screen. Outputting data to it is in reference to pixels not columns or rows. Pixels are either on or off and their value is a composite RGB value.
What this means is that if you write data to the screen in the spot you will see some odd display behavior. This can be eliminated by drawing shapes over areas on the screen. What function from the Graphics Library would be useful in this effort?
