Directions:
Use ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global database Library website to locate mentor text dissertation (preferably it would be related to your topic).
You may need to use advanced search options to help narrow your search.
Scan read the entire dissertation.
Carefully read the literature review section.
Provide a one-paragraph summary of the entire literature review.
Write a second paragraph about what you learned through reviewing chapter 2.
Assignment 2: Discussion: 1 page
Overview: The next critical step in your doctoral journey is conducting a comprehensive literature review related to your topic. This will help you understand the current state of research related to your topic, identify gaps in the literature, and establish a theoretical framework for your study.
Directions:
For this week's discussion, focus on strategies for searching for articles and sources. Please address the following questions in your initial post:
1. Keyword Development: What are the primary keywords and phrases related to your dissertation topic? How will you determine these keywords, and what strategies will you use to refine them as you continue your search?
2. Databases and Resources: Which academic databases and resources (e.g., JSTOR, PubMed, and Google Scholar) do you plan to use for your literature search? Why have you chosen these particular databases?
3. Organizing Your Findings: How do you plan to organize and manage the articles and sources you find? Will you use any specific tools or software (e.g., EndNote, Zotero) to help with this process?
4. Library Questions: The librarian will have an upcoming live session about using the library to support your dissertation. Share at least one question that you would like to ask the librarian during the session.

Here are some questions I have about your topic that you will need to address:
1) What is your problem statement - one or two clear sentences that state the specific problem you are researching and that is supported by the current literature.
2) What is the specific methodology you will be using and why is it appropriate (stating Qualitative or Quantitative does not tell me the specific methodology).
3) How do you plan to get access to the population you intend to use? Be VERY specific and discuss if you may need to get permission (in most cases you will need it) to get access to this group of participants.
4) What specific tools are you going to use (you need need at least two data points in most quantitative methods and these cannot merely be demographic in nature) .
NOTE: If you are creating your own tools you will need to prove validity and reliability which can extend your research by 8-12 months or more and you need to be very good with statistically methods to do this).
