As a consultant, an online gaming company must make sure that all software is kept up-to-date so that consumers will be able to play the games without problems. Also, the man hours put into keeping the servers functional, troubleshooting problems, and making sure consumers personal information is protected, will add up quickly. I highly doubt they have the personnel on staff currently that can do those duties. That means hiring multiple full-time employees to monitor and complete those tasks.
