From one of the following online archives locate a primary source document from the Cold War era (1945-1991). Your document can deal with the period from a foreign policy/military standpoint or from a domestic/social viewpoint. It must be a primary source, and not an article discussing primary sources. Primary sources can include documents, diaries, recordings, and images. Use Voices of Freedom as a guide.

In a 2-3 page essay provide a brief (1-2 paragraphs) summary of your document and, in the rest of the essay, describe how it relates to a topic or theme from the time period as discussed in class (using the textbook, the outside readings, or a combination thereof).

You do not need to do any extra outside reading for this assignment. It is meant to be your own interpretation of the document. You may use the textbook or other assigned books as a guide is necessary, but you must cite any references used. You may not use any additional sources.

Archival Databases: Below are the home pages of various online archives. Most document collections can be found under the research sections of the websites. It may be necessary to search for a specific topic (such as those discussed in class or the text) rather than simply searching for "the Cold War."
