One thing Dr. King talked about in his writing, especially Letter from Birmingham Jail, is the need for tension in a protest. Tension creates a spotlight on the issue and raises awareness about the problem. The key is not to become violent, though. If you become violent, it brings the wrong kind of focus onto the issue. I wonder what Dr. King would say about modern protests? Thoughts?
