one of the great tragedies in studying american

One of the great tragedies in studying American and African American history has been the omissions of the great role played by Black women. To remedy this situation, you are required to research and complete a project consisting of short and concise biographies of 20 African women who contributed to African history in the U.S. to the Civil War. Bios cannot be more than 8 sentences for each of the 20 women!!!

The purpose of this assignment is to focus attention on Black women's important roles in African American history and to learn about new historical figures. For example, we can assume that most students, educated in the U.S. are familiar with Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman and Phyllis Wheatley. Please do not complete bios on women of this stature unless you are not from the U.S. Instead, research and study the lives of Sarah Remond, Maria Stewart, Charlotte Forten, Ellen Harper and lesser known activists and leaders.
The bios should include the following:
•Birth dates and death dates
•Hometown
•Early influences (books, incidents, experiences) that impacted their later lives
•Education (formal and informal)
•Occupation
•Major contributions to race, American society
•Major philosophy, beliefs
•Books by and/or about them
•Family life
•Awards they attained if any
•Their historical significance
Include a statement explaining why you selected each of your 20.

At the end of each bio, please provide at least three sources that you utilized to gather information about your subject. Two of these sources must be books! The citations to these sources should provide vital information [author, title, publisher, year of publication, place of publication..] so that anyone reading your sources can easily locate them.
