One of the factors that determines cost of homeowners

One of the factors that determines cost of Homeowners insurance is location. Many areas of our country are exposed to severe weather, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, etc. Should the governments in those areas increase their responsibility for helping those that suffer from severe weather losses? Explain why, or why not. The government already offers support to people who live in areas prong to natural disasters. The government has Fema an agency that responds to natural disasters and also created a National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to protect property owners from risk. I think the government could increase it responsibility by overseeing or regulating insurance companies to make sure companies engage in fair underwriting practices and that claim are being paid to insuree. I don’t think the government should just pay for people damage property. I think the government should require homeowners to have homeowner insurance. When people finance house with a mortgage, lenders almost always require the borrower to have home insurance. Homeowner insurance can be expense but it is the responsibility of the homeowner to protect their property against risk. I believe it is the owner responsibility because they choose to live in areas where they are exposed to severe weather. Are you agree or disagree with this comment? Explain why?
