Once you have a thesis write an introduction to the paper

Informative Essay Assignment

Step one is to choose a problematic question. You want to express a thesis to an audience, but you feel as if they don't know much about the topic you are writing about. Your goal with the assignment is to share your beliefs about the problem while educating the audience about the topic. After reading the paper, your audience will know more about the problem and understand why you feel the way you do about it. Choose a problem that you are interested in. You may recycle your mock introduction from the beginning of the quarter or choose a completely new problem.

Step two is to brainstorm some different ideas that you can include in the body of the paper. Once you have some ideas, you need to find 4 pieces of research talking about these ideas. All four pieces must be credible sources! One piece should be a web source. One piece should be a print source. The other two pieces can be whatever you like.

In Step three, construct a thesis with tension. The thesis is the answer to the problematic question. Once you have a thesis, write an introduction to the paper and then start writing a body that uses your 4 pieces of research to support the thesis. You may summarize and/or paraphrase the research if you want, but I do expect multiple quotes from each source. The body of the paper should be Closed Stance. Once the body is finished, write the conclusion and the Works Cited page.

After editing and revising, the paper should use MLA formatting, be typed and double spaced, and be 5-7 pages long, not including the Works Cited page.
