Objectively compare and contrast the candidates positions


The debate will be moderated by NBC's Lester Holt.  It will be organized into six, 15-minute segments that will cover three topics (i.e., two 15-minute segments will be devoted to each topic):

  • America's direction,
  • Achieving prosperity
  • Securing America

Objective: The objective of the assignment is for you to relate terms and topics to real-world situations. You do not need to reveal your voting intentions or political affiliation in this assignment. 

Questions:

1) Objectively compare and contrast the candidates positions and intentions in the three debate topic areas (use headers to separate).

2) Reflect on how positions/policy proposals relate to topics discussed in MGT 1; for example:

Entrepreneurship

Nation wealth and economic indicators (i.e., GDP, unemployment, and inflation)

Standard of living and quality of life

Business environment (i.e., economic, legal, technological, social, competitive, and global)

Economic Systems (e.g., Capitalism, Socialism, and mixed economies and how these vary in terms of social and economic goals, worker motivation, government control, market choices, and social freedoms)

Fiscal and monetary policy

Global trade (e.g., balance of trade, imports, exports, free trade, protectionism

3) Reflect on your learning; for example:

Do you think the debates were more interesting as a result of your MGT1 learning?

Were there topics discussed that you saw differently as a result of your learning?

Were there any topics brought up that you want to know more about?
