Purpose of Assessment Task:

The purpose of this assessment task is to provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of the nurse’s leadership role in relation to clinical risk management, and continuing professional development.

Assignment question:

To ensure safe and quality patient care a Registered Nurse must have a variety of leadership skills. Engaging patients effectively is one of those skills. Reflect upon and critically discuss why patient participation is important in maintaining quality and safe patient outcomes and discuss strategies that can assist Registered Nurses in improving patient participation in care.

This assessment task provides you with the opportunity to demonstrate the following Unit:

  • Reflect upon the Registered Nurse’s role as a leader in the health care team
  • Critique the principles and processes of clinical risk management and their application in health care domains
  • Reflect on the importance of continuous professional development in preparation for transition to the role of Registered Nurse
  • Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities: appropriate to the level of study related to a discipline or profession
  • Communication: using oral, written and interpersonal communication to inform, motivate and effect change
  • Digital literacy: using technologies to find, use and disseminate information
  • Critical thinking: evaluating information using critical and analytical thinking and judgment
  • Problem solving: creating solutions to authentic (real world and ill-defined) problems
  • Self-management: working and learning independently, and taking responsibility for personal actions

12-point type size (never use a larger point size for headings or on the title page). Use Times or Times New Roman.

Spacing:

Double-line spacing (Do not insert extra lines between paragraphs or the references list entries.) Use one space after all punctuation except certain periods within abbreviations, quotations or parentheses.

Page numbers:

Page numbers to be provided on all pages except front page.

Margins:

2.54 cm at the top, bottom, left-hand, and right-hand sides of the page.
