Non-maturing male salmon

Somatolactin (SL) is a hormone released by the pituitary gland. It's function is unclear but experiments have been carried out to determine when it is released. An experiment was carried out to determine whether the somatolactin level in maturing male salmon is larger than in non-maturing male salmon. 30 maturing male salmon were sampled and found to have SL concentration of 32ng/ml and sample variance 0.4ng/ml. 40 non-maturing male salmon were sampled and found to have SL concentration of 30ng/ml and sample variance 0.5ng/ml. Does this provide significant evidence that the SL level in maturing male salmon is greater than that of non-maturing male salmon?
