Pick a topic that is being researched that either uses networking, or is a form of networking. Do not limit yourself to just Computer Science references. Networking and its implications are actively being reserached in Buisness Administration, Information Systems, and Distance Education, along with many other disciplines.
Your primary source of information should be peer reviewed academic sources. This is an academic paper you are writing, and thus wikipedia is not a valid resouce to use as a reference. Your topic must be approved by the instructor before you may begin writing.
At the end of the course you may do a 15 minute presentation on your research.
