Nerve action potential and conduction velocity research
I have to do a lab report on the nerve action potential and conduction velocity and I am having trouble findingjournal articles. The purpose of thelab was to introduce us to the action potential and how it can be regulated by changing the strength and duration of the electrical stimulus (we used the sciatic nerve from a frog). we looked at things such as stimulus strength vs. the size of the response and found that as the stimulus strength was increased the size of the response increased as well. We also looked at stimulus duration vs response size and found that as the duration increased, so did the response. We also looked at the strength-duration curve until we reached a maximum response and found that as the stimulus voltage is increased the duration of the response decreased until we hit the maximum response where the response stayed the same. Other things we looked at were the refractory period and the effects of temperature on conduction velocity (Found that conduction velocity increased as the temperature increased).
