Assignment:
This paper should be five-six pages in length. You are encouraged to present it creatively to the group, e.g. PowerPoint or other format. Please bring copies for everyone to follow along as it is easier to engage you. If you do a PowerPoint or other kind of presentation, please turn in the paper to your supervisor. The following outlines what should be included in this paper or presentation for unit one:
- An exercise to help you meet outcome 311.1: this paper needs to articulate central themes of your religious heritage and the theological understanding that informs your ministry, which should include denominational underpinnings, themes, and values. Also important to include is a theology of pastoral care and how that informs your practice of ministry. Cite important resources (scripture/Holy book, writings and persons) that have influenced your thinking.
Include the following in your paper:
1. Statements about your denomination and what is valuable from this denomination in your understanding of God, spirit, doctrine, values, etc.
2. Reference scripture, Holy books, other documents, and persons who are very influential to you about your religious values and understanding.
3. How does all this help you relate to people in general as well as folks of other faiths?
4. How all the previous statements impact you regarding doing pastoral care. What is pastoral care and why do it. What is your motivation and what in your values help guide what you do.
