In reality, I had interpreted the situation incorrectly. When we eventually met, my supervisor was actually impressed with the content and simply wanted to adjust the formatting to align with new branding guidelines. My subjective emotion fueled by exhaustion and a "catastrophizing" mindset had created a narrative that didn't exist.

If I were to handle this differently today, I would employ better emotional regulation techniques. Instead of ruminating on the email, I would have practiced "cognitive reappraisal," reminding myself that brevity does not equal negativity. I also would have waited ten minutes before responding to ensure my behavior was driven by logic rather than a temporary physiological spike.
