The National Center for Health Statistics reported that the 34% of Americans were obese recently. The Center for Disease Control determined that obese people spend average of $1,429 more medical goods and servies than non-obese people. Obesity is determined using the following formula:

BMI=Weight(lbs) x 703/ Height (inches) squared

A person with a BMI of 25 to 29 is classified as overweight, 30 to 40 or more as mobidly obese. Does this sample support the findings that 34% of the population is obese?
