Name the two immunological processes

Assignment task: You have decided to take it upon yourself to do some DIY jobs around the house. While trying to fix up the back shed, you cut your hand pretty bad using the hand saw. Although it hurts, you apply pressure and a bandage. The bleeding seems to stop, and you are able to finish jobs that afternoon.

Q1. Name the two immunological processes that would have occurred when you damaged your hand. Explain what the function of each process is, and how they happen.

Q2. A few days after your injury, you begin to feel hot, followed by cold. You take your temperature and it is 38.2°C! Your hand is still hurting, and doesn't look much better than what it did when you first cut it. You make an appointment with your GP who tells you the wound has become infected, cleans the wound and reapplies fresh bandages, and prescribes you antibiotics to help clear up the infection. What immunological process was occurring in this situation, explain how it works, and state what is its role in immunity.
