Thread:The assigned Reading & Study addresses the importance of mutuality and trust in difficult conversations. For this discussion, develop a conversation between you as the nurse, and Betty as the patient. Betty is upset that her pain medication was not delivered within her time expectations. She has just called out asking for her nurse to come to the room. As you enter and engage in that crucial conversation, demonstrate principles of active listening, silence, and/or SBAR communication techniques as appropriate. Elicit and develop conversation to demonstrate that each party feels the other cares about their goals and trusts the other's motives to move towards resolving the issue.
