Although no grade will be assigned for this required document, failure to turn this in on time will result in 10 points being deducted from the paper or project. There is no way to schedule class time around the presentations unless the instructor is given ample time to plan accordingly.

This is considered your final exam.

Paper: The papers will be a minimum of 1200 words in length and must be double-spaced, typed in a font of 12. All resource materials must be cited using footnotes in appropriate style (MLA, Turabian, etc.)

This paper will demonstrate the influence of world music or folk music on a Western music (or vice-versa) of your choice.

Some examples may be the influence of reggae music on the compositions of The Police, the influence of Hungarian music on that of classical composers such as Bartok, Brahms, or Liszt, the influence of Indian music on the Beatles, Paul Simon's African influence in Graceland and other compositions, Bluegrass influence from African, Irish, and jazz influences, etc...

All presentation and paper assignments must be approved by the instructor, and proposals will be submitted in the dropbox on the assigned date. All writing assignments will be turned in through Pilot in a .doc or .docx format, no papers will be submitted through email through email, no exclusions.Any papers turned in late will automatically lose one letter grade.
