MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM:
Disease of the skin and musculoskeletal system occur commonly in early age group. There are not many statistics to prove the exact frequency of the skin disorder in this country till today. Nearly one-third of the paediatric out-patient visits involve dermatological problems. In addition to the primary skin disorders seen during childhood, skin is often a marker of underlying systemic disease and many hereditary syndromes. Therefore, obtaining a careful and detailed case history is often essential to establish diagnosis of skin diseases. It is also important to identify the primary and secondary skin lesions, their characteristics and exanline the hair, nails and mucosal surfaces. So you as a nurse caring for these patients need to develop accurate skills to.assit in appropriate intervention and to plan related nursing care. In this unit, we shall discuss about various skin infections like bacterial, fungal, parasitc, viral and eczema and ah other common skin disorders in children. We shall also focus on various disorders of musculoskeletal system. Let us begin with skin disorders.
