Mullins was the factory manager at the acme widget works

Mullins was the factory manager at the Acme Widget Works located in an employment at will state.   The company came under new management and Mullins was reassigned as Director of Mfg, a newly created position.  His actual duties could be performed in less than one day per week.  Soon he was no longer invited to attend staff meetings.  Two of his former subordinates were promoted to positions above him in the company.  He was not afforded the opportunity to apply for these positions. For the first time in 21 years he was not given an annual salary increase.  Over the next year his duties and responsibilities were gradually reduced until he was no longer considered to hold an executive position, his pay was reduced accordingly, and he was no longer authorized a key to the executive wash room.  However, he continued to receive performance reviews which stated his job performance was satisfactory.  Because his responsibilities were no longer at the executive level Mullins was embarrassed and stressed.  He went on medical leave and resigned.   He now seeks legal action against the company.  Does he have a case?  Why or why not?
