Mr. X's verbal responses were very articulate, and he gave long, expressive answers. His answers appeared well thought out. On the non-timed tasks, he sat calmly and answered reflectively. On the timed tasks, he worked very quickly, and often squinted his eyes and pursed his lips in concentration. He responded with enthusiasm to success and with frustration to failure, but neither seemed to reduce his interest in the tasks. He showed a high level of confidence and pride in his performance, except for tasks he thought he did poorly on (such as tasks involving repeating digits or letters to the experimenter). When performing these tasks, he often said "I'm terrible at these" to the experimenter, but did not seem to decrease his effort.
