Mr. Smith was admitted to the telemetry unit for cardiac monitoring after an episode of chest pain. His cardiac enzymes (CK, troponin-T, and troponin-I) were slightly elevated and the ECG showed elevation in the ST segment. An angiogram reveals plaque blocking the LAD. PCI with DES is recommended.
