PART 1: Podcast Reviews
You will write a 300 to 350--word film review. You can choose any film you like, but you need to review it thoroughly, giving your thoughts on story, theme, acting, camerawork, and sound. You can also discuss the "mise--en--scene," which mean the set (furniture, artwork, locations), make--up, hair, clothes and anything else that gives the camera the film its look.
You can record using the software Audacity, which is free to download, or Audition, which is part of the Adobe Cloud, or you can record using CCMS audio booths. Please see Amar if you want to use one of the audio booths.
Remember to write in short, interesting sentences, as they will be easier to read. Your voice should reflect the emotion and point of view of your review.
PART II: News Analysis
Over the next week, start watching the news, at least two English channels from two different countries (i.e, USA, UK, France, Russia) and two Arabic channels from two different countries (i.e. UAE and Lebanon). Compare and look for similarities and differences in how the news is delivered (studio style), what news is included, what news is not mentioned, what the POV is of the stories, what visuals are used to tell the stories.
Write a one--page report (approx. 300 words) of what you observed
NOTE: You will upload to Blackboard the written film review and the news analysis in one document, marking them Part One and Part Two.
