Poverty In The United States

Minimum wage contributes to poverty in the united state is getting worse and the violence and war, crimes have increased worse each day not enough is getting done about it, poverty in america is being blamed on the system and the individual affected and The primary reason most people are willing to increase the minimum wage is to assist poor people. As individuals , poverty is being blamed because of the lifestyles that families live in today and the criminals they commit in the society.the issue today has evolved into a complex issue and has affected our american culture and social culture.

According to the text "the report also found that increasing the minimum wage to $12 by 2020 would result in a 3% to 5% decline in crime amounting to between 250,000 to 510,000 fewer crimes and a "societal benefit" of $8 to $17 billion" the Atlantic reported. This describe how it will reduce crime rate and increase minimum wage by 2020. And the article gave many views on how crime is something of a political battle. People today are in fear of becoming victims of crime.

In the text it said, "The study's findings deviate from decades of research that supports the criminal justice system's ability to promote and reduce crime. "Higher levels of imprisonment have occurred despite not because of changes in underlying criminal activity," the authors wrote in the study" the Atlantic reported. This explains how the author explain and demonstrates his idea about reducing the crime rate and the ability to promote his idea.

The author stated "The Council also found that applicants with criminal records were 50% less likely to receive an interview request or job offer" the atlantic reported. It is clear, therefore , that many criminal who have commit mistake have less chance of getting job mostly womens and it creates barrier and gap between the co-worker and boss.

women dominate less economic power as major influential people in global economies are male.According to the text "which in part leads to their struggles with underemployment, low-wage jobs and stagnant skill sets. It also means that formerly incarcerated people earn between 10% and 40% less than other workers" the atlantic reported. This implies to world we live in because we as nation throughout history have struggle to fix the gap between criminal and people who are in poverty.

In the documentary Breaking the Cycle of Poverty eva longoria said "i work alot with farm workers in other countries which are the poorest of the poor people so i thought here that's who i would experience like these farm workers these coffee bean workers and it's not there they're even in the economy the people we dealing with " (Breaking the Cycle of Poverty). This shows that in the documentary there are substantial gaps in rates of poverty across race, which could be attributed to discrimination and challenges and hard times .I learned that if we as society continue trying to discriminate like this we will let many children to suffer both mentally and physically.

In the documentary the author states that "definitely don't think they're aware that there's a life outside of their bubble they live in which is poverty they really don't believe that opportunities are there for them they don't believe that they could go study" (Breaking the cycle of Poverty). This implies to our society because Poverty has many faces, changing from place to place and across time, and has been described in many ways and i learned that Poverty and the poor can be found all over the world. They lack of basic goods, services, food, and shelter, making their lives miserable. The author stated "the long term effects of poverty and the obstacles even faced by families who have two incomes.but in a new study, the white house has made a novel argument raising the minimum wage reduces crime by 4 to 5 percent" the atlantic reported.According to Juleyka Lantigua, the majority of those who are paid minimum wage are not poor, but rather an additional income on top of the sole provid.

This demonstrates by increasing the wage it will help the economic and reduce crime and poverty.better payment to men doing the same job as women.

According to the text "poverty is as shortage of money" the atlantic reported. This demonstrate that poverty is due to the lack of resource and ability to not support family because you short on money. therefore The majority of people that are locked up came from a background of poverty and Society also shows that people without money and material wealth are basically nothing. They get no respect and they have no power to even try to change their situations. They are basically made to feel as though they are worthless and have nothing to live for. Once people feel that they are backed into a corner like that, they will usually do anything to get out. And usually that results in violence or crime and it creates bad example for other around them in the society they growing up. Crime exist today in many areas of modern life and They do not stop to think of the consequences people in our society.
