Millions of U.S. workers grapple with difficult issues and even discrimination in the work force related to their disabilities. Many of these workers suffer with serious or chronic illnesses that interfere with their ability to perform the work that brings meaning to their lives. Yet, many employees with disabilities do not let their employers know for fear of negative reactions. However, failure to disclose one’s illness, regardless of the reason, is risky. Employers may misinterpret certain behaviors and will not know how to adjust the employee’s work if they don’t know about the disability.

a) as a manager, how would you balance the need for a work adjustment for an employee with a disability with your need to design jobs that meet organizational performance goals?

b) What issues would you need to consider to ensure the well-being of an employee with a disability with regard to job control, uncertainty, and conflict?

c) Recommend an appropriate course of action and justify your response.a.)
