Metropolitan briton and an american colonist

"Suppose that in 1772 (i.e., before the "Boston Tea-Party"), a metropolitan Briton and an American colonist met at a Tavern and began to discuss the "imperial troubles" dividing the British empire. Let each side describe their own view of the empire and why and how the colonists are (or are not) subject to Parliament's rules and taxes. Have them each attempt to refute the other's arguments. Can you see any mutually agreeable solution to their dispute? Or is a violent resolution of the conflict inevitable? End the debate however you see fit
