In 2012, according to the report "Preventing suicide: A global imperative" written by WHO (2014), there were an estimated 804,000 suicide fatalities around the globe, making the global age-standardized suicide rate 11.4 per 100,000 people (15.0 for males and 8.0 for females). Impacts on individuals, communities, and societies are often felt for years after a suicide has occurred, making this a significant public health concern. Suicide, fortunately, can be avoided. The CDC report Preventing Suicide: A Technical Package of Policies, Programs, and Practices emphasizes the importance of community-wide efforts to reduce suicide rates. This includes awareness-raising, which has been found to aid in suicide prevention efforts by researchers and mental health professionals (WHO, 2014). By increasing awareness, spreading messages of hope and strength, and working together for positive social change, everyone can do their part to reduce the risk of suicide. Suppressing the shame associated with suicide will help those struggling with the idea of taking their own lives and those who care about them. Although most people would rather not discuss it, research has shown that doing so can aid suicide prevention efforts. Insight into the data and candid communication could end up saving a life. Due to this, making suicide at the centre of all aspects of life, including politics, religion, and social health problems, will help awareness as a result of the legalization of euthanasia. This paper argues in favour of euthanasia as a paradoxically efficient means of lowering suicide rates by highlighting the dangers of antidepressant use, facilitating the detection of suicide attempts, prompting loved ones and medical professionals to take action, and fostering education for general practitioners on the identification of suicidal cases.
