Neurons in our bodies carry weak currents which generate detectable magnetic fields. A technique termed as magneto encephalography, or MEG, is employed to study electrical activity in the brain by using this concept. This method is capable of detecting magnetic fields as weak as 1.0 x 10-15 T. Model the neuron as a long wire carrying a current and determine the current it should carry to generate a field of this magnitude at a distance of 2.5 cm from the neuron.
