Huntington's disease is a neurodegenerative genetic disorder that leads to cognitive decline and behavioral symptoms. Cognitive abilities become progressively impaired and begin to affect executive functions which include abstract thinking. As the disease progresses, memory deficits tend to range from short-term memory deficits to long-term memory difficulties, including deficits in episodic, procedural , and working memory. It typically becomes noticeable in mid-adult life when life obligations are at its highest. Through the use of assistive technology individuals can maintain independence.
