Assessment 04: Reflective Journal Assignment

Learning outcomes addressed-

The reflective process provides an opportunity for students to deepen their learning. Reflective Journal contains regular reflection on the concepts presented and discussed in class, specifically their application to your personal, practical knowledge and experience.
By the end of this assessment, students will be able to:

a) Develop the knowledge, skills and concepts needed to resolve actual Human Resource Management (HRM) problems or issues.

b) Manage the employment relationship, which is a shared responsibility between employers, management, human resources specialists, and employees.

d) Develop appropriate strategy for core HRM activities

e) Supervise employees & facilitate cooperation.

f) Place incentives to encourage improved employee performance.

Assessment Brief You need to keep a reflective journal, which you will later use to inform a written assignment. You may be asked to include comment on lectures, performances and the pre-reading and classroom experience. You are required to submit three (3) learning journals on the following chapters:

1. Chapters 1, 2:
Human resource management in Australia
Strategic human resource management
The Legal context for human resource management

2. Chapters 8, 9:
Recruitment and selection
Managing diversity and work-life balance

3. Chapters 15 & 18:
Ethics and human resource management
Evaluating and improving the human resource function

The content of the reflection is up to you, although it should be based on the ideas and discussions from class and the relevant assigned readings. As well, a number of activities and reflection questions will be suggested in each class. Reflective Journal entries must:

1. demonstrate application of course materials to personal experience and observations,

2. include an evaluation of those experiences and also lessons learned.
