Business Ethics

Personal Perspective Paper

Taking what you have learned about the various approaches to ethical decision making, consider what dimensions of each of these influences your style of decision making. Do you tend to see ethical decisions from a rules-based (deontological) or a consequences-based (teleological) perspective?

Do you believe that there should be a fair distribution of benefits and burdens, and if so, how do you define "fair?" Do you seek the greatest good for the greatest number of people or take more of a care approach?

Chances are your ethical decision-making style is informed by several of the different approaches we have discussed. In this paper assignment, you should first begin by telling me which of these approaches are reflected in your decision making and how they do so. This paper is not an essay on the styles we have discussed or you have read, but rather an analysis of how these styles are evident in your own personal decision making.

Next, consider how these approaches became integrated into your thinking. Did you learn them from your parents, teachers, pastor, boss, etc.? Did certain life events influence your decision making?

The paper should be 5 pages. You do not need to use outside sources, but if you do so then document your sources.

The paper should follow APA or MLA formatting guidelines (double spaced, 12 pt. Times font, one-inch margins, pages numbered, etc.).

Grammar, punctuation and spelling will constitute 25% of the grade.

All papers must be submitted via blackboard by Monday, September 17, 2018, no later than midnight. No late papers will be accepted, so it's better to turn in a paper half-way finished and receive a 50 than to submit a late paper and receive a zero.
