You are walking down a road and come to a river. At the edge of the river a baby is playing alone without supervision. You do not know where the parents or guardians are and you have very good reason to believe that the child will fall into the torrent and be swept away. While you are not legally obligated to do anything, you like most people, would probably feel compelled to prevent the impending calamity. Consider the concepts you read about this week and come up with one argument for helping the child and one for leaving the child and doing nothing. Make sure you focus on concepts like teleology versus deontology, the various perspectives of philosophers and psychologists and so on.
