Assignment Task 1: The nodal mismatch between the renewable power generation and electric load will be constructed from the provided PyPSA input data corresponding to a 100% decarbonized European energy system. A PCA will deliver the most important principal mismatch patterns and their amplitude time series. The time series will be analyzed in various ways, including Fourier and Complex Network analysis.
Assignment Task 2: The nodal mismatch is equal to the operational system response, which consists of balancing + storage in the electricity as well as heating sectors and of the injection into the power grid. A projection of the mismatch principal components obtained in Task 1 onto the various operational response terms will reveal how much each principal component will contribute to each operational response type.
